Narrative
NORRISTOWN, PA – Three people died last Saturday in Norristown after a fiery three-vehicle crash involving a tanker truck along the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
The accident occurred just before 10:30 a.m. on the northbound side of I-476 near mile marker 26.
The investigation indicates that a northbound tanker truck rear-ended two other vehicles in the right lane. One of the vehicles had a flat tire, and the other vehicles was parked behind the disabled vehicle with its hazard lights flashing. The collision caused all three vehicles to ignite.
The truck driver died along with the two occupants from the vehicle parked behind the car with the flat tire. Authorities have identified the victims as James and Suzette Achey and William Ramos.
The driver of the disabled vehicle went to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
